In providing a comments policy for this site, many things have been considered - not the least of which is the freedom of expression. While it is not okay to wilfully censor comments, there are certain conditions under which comments will be promptly removed. This comment policy seeks to outline those conditions, so that you know what is considered to be fair when they are brought into use.
- Personal attacks/threats will be removed. In helping to foster an environment that people enjoy visiting, it is expected that you respect the dignity of the individual above your own need to retaliate if you are in disagreement. Spirited debate is encouraged, and in place of swearing, YELLING, and personal attacks, the improvement of an argument is the best way to get a point across. In using this website, people presume themselves to be free from personal attack, a freedom that will be granted wherever possible.
- Spam commenting will be removed. While there is not absolute denial of links that are unrelated to the content of the post, please do not use this website for the promotion of your commercial products/websites. While this site implements a variant of the "dofollow" rule and exercises as much leniency as possible, it would be appreciated if such comments were kept to a minimum.
- Links or trackbacks to adult content will be removed. The posting of adult material will be regarded as a form of abuse. This is a practice that will not be tolerated, and no correspondence upon the matter will be entered into. The comment will be removed, the IP address will be blocked, and if the content is abusive enough it will be reported to the ISP of the offending party and the appropriate authorities.
- Hate speech will not be tolerated. Unfiltered discussion is one of the greater freedoms that internet users enjoy, and such spirited debate must be kept alive. You have the freedom to espouse your ideology - as long as it does not belittle the freedoms of others - with regards to the sanctity of life and equal liberties. We're all in this together.
- Comments will never be closed on any posts. In keeping with the status as a legacy site, all posts will remain open. If, in ten, fifteen, or fifty years from now you wish to comment on a topic (software permitting) you may do so.
Hopefully, this was not too much of a "bad boy" notice. As far as exercising this policy goes, discretion will be exercised in the most responsible way. In keeping with the philosophy of an open web, it is as much your website as it is anybody else's: the value of a shared dominion should be taken very seriously, and everybody should have the enjoyment of their ideas being valued by others. Your experience here should be as enjoyable and as rewarding as it possibly can be. So, go lightly, and keep it fun for others!
